Mad & Sam at Laurel Point

Happy almost New Year's!

MADSAM! Samboleine. BoMad.

Whatever you want to call these two is fine. They'll smile and then you'll be caught up in Sambo's huge laugh and Madeleine's unbelievable sweetness. I seriously loved hanging with them and remember meeting them very vividly last year. Back in the spring we spent some time together in Vancouver for their engagement session and even did some photos on BC Ferries. Fast forward a few months and we have their wedding. The wedding on the weekend with the storm of all storms apparently about to hit Vancouver Island.

Well, Madeleine and Sambo didn't let anything but their friends and family being there affect them. It was an amazing day with lots of food. I had to mention that at 8 am when you show up a wedding with Chinese traditions you'd better be prepared to eat, and eat lots. Don't bother saying no "thank you" because every Mom, every Aunt and every friend is going to insist. And you won't regret it. I had some delicious handmade spring rolls that day!

These photos being shared was a long time coming. You are going to see a few things : Sambo smiles huge, Madeleine is absolutely radiant, traditions and games are so much fun, there was a lot of love here, and this storm had some rain but wasn't going to stop the party. Thanks to Becca who came out and rocked this wedding with me!

Madeleine & Sambo, thanks for picking me!

Jade & Reid on the Lake

Jade & Reid. Shawnigan Lake. The family cottage. Summer time heat. Lots of laughs. Dance party. Unforgettable memories.

I really really really like these two.

I wish I had the ability to express how much the friendships I've made this summer mean to me but I hope it comes across in the photos. This was an emotional day and all a photographer can hope for is to capture some still images of moments that go by so so quickly.

Here are some photos of an epic day...

Dave & Ayah at Craigdarroch Castle

Every time I post I say how long it's been and today, even more so than the past I can say it's been a long long time time. I am still thrilled to go through these images months after the bride and groom have seen them.

I have no witty words and all I can say is how much I enjoyed this day. Dave was lucky enough to marry a stunner of a girl, have a wedding ceremony at a castle and also have one of my friends since high school as his groomsman. And I've never seen a daughter adore her dad like this. It was pretty rad.

This wedding had the soundtrack from Labyrinth, wine, laughs, oysters shucked in front of me, fresh beer (from the groom's brother), a castle and a lot of dancing. Here is the day!

There's something that I've always loved about multi-generational photos. Maybe I'm getting softer as I get older...

How you turned my world, you precious thing
You starve and near exhaust me
Everything I've done, I've done for you
I move the stars for no one
You've run so long
You've run so far
Your eyes can be so cruel
Just as I can be so cruel
Though I do believe in you
Yes I do
Live without the sunlight
Love without your heartbeat
I, I can't live within you
I can't live within you
(sigh)
I, I can't live within you
